The Shelter hostels

We run two hostels in the center of Amsterdam: the Shelter City and the Shelter Jordan. With a total of over 270 beds and 30,000 guests from 130 different countries, it is fair to say that these hostels are busy, lively and exiting places to be. Most of the travelers staying with us are between 16 and 40 years of age. And many are on a spiritual journey.

The Shelter City hostel opened in 1972 and is the biggest of the two. It is located at the edge of the Amsterdam Red Light District. So close to the world of prostitution and addiction, the Shelter City truly is a light in a dark place.

The Shelter Jordan hostel is located in the quiet and picturesque Jordaan (Jordan) area, close to the Anne Frank house.. It is the oldest (since 1971) and smaller of the two hostels.
